Why is Network Security
Important?
Large companies are not the only firms facing
serious and potentially catastrophic security threats.
A majority of small to medium-sized businesses use the
internet to run their operations and have business-critical
data to protect. In 2002, 85% of organizations polled
in an FBI survey were victims of computer attacks. External
viruses, hackers and criminals are not the only problems.
Internet misuse in the workplace is increasing at an
overwhelming rate. Almost half of all web surfing is
non-business related, and employees that are allowed
to inadvertently visit sites that may contain offensive
information could leave the company vulnerable for a
lawsuit. Every company has a legal responsibility to
safeguard employees as well as their critical data.
